Momentum 2017: Featured Speakers
Momentum 2017 featured some amazing guest speakers, from tech gurus and category busting industry experts, to Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty (RSIR) updates in marketing, media partnerships and artful storytelling.
GeekWire | Tech Talk
GeekWire co-founder Jonathan Sposato inspired the crowd with a tech talk that covered industry trends and forecasts, his commitment to a growth mindset, and standing for values that resonate with others. He described Seattle’s rapid growth, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime moment we should be proud to witness, and highlighted the ways in which cognitive technologies and blockchain will continue to shape our lives.
Industry Experts | Category Busters
The industry experts panel brought together industry leaders that are breaking the norms and busting categories within their respective industries. Moderated by Dean Jones, President & CEO of RSIR, and Emory Thomas Jr., Publisher of Puget Sound Business Journal, the panel covered a range of topics, from real estate development and retail to the creation of community through living spaces and events.
The distinguished panel members included Craig Kinzer, Partner, Kinzer Partners; Dwayne J. Clark, Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO, Aegis Living; Erik Anderson, CEO & Chairman, Topgolf Entertainment Group and Founder & CEO, WestRiver Group; Liz Dunn, Owner, Dunn + Hobbes LLC; and Diane Najm, CEO & Founder, PhotoPad. Each panelist was asked to describe their path to success and what they’re doing to innovate the industry.
In Seattle real estate development trends, Dunn noted her work on small scale development projects and her use of events to drive foot traffic to the project’s retail spaces, while Kinzer described the impact of the tech industry on the area and the clamber to acquire land along Seattle’s light rail amidst growing traffic concerns.
An overarching theme seemed to be the ways in which people crave community and interaction within our increasingly digitized world. To be sure, Clark’s commitment to high-level senior care through touchpoints and shared spaces; Najm’s engagement of users in memory and sharing through the PhotoPad app; and Anderson’s ability to tap the millennial market in creating a more social golfing experience at Topgolf, each address this need.
As moderator Emory Thomas Jr., who spoke about the power of asking questions, reflected, “It was truly impressive. I loved the energy of the people in the room…the ideas that were flowing…the attitudes I witnessed. I stayed for the super-agent session and it was tremendous. I wrote lots of notes, and frankly wished many on my team could have been there. Inspiring.”
“The invited speakers and coordinated panels provided an informative and binding experience at Momentum,” mused RSIR broker Boni Buscemi. “It was amazing to experience the leadership of a phenomenal group and to learn from industry experts to grow both myself and my business.”
