Destination Highlight: Suncadia
You’ve likely driven by numerous times but if you haven’t stopped on your way across the mountain pass you’re missing out on a ton of fun! Suncadia is only 50 minutes from Bellevue and with three championship golf courses, a winery, concert venue and luxury resort, it’s no wonder the area gaining popularity among PNW adventurers. But did you know there are still fantastic vacation home ownership opportunities? Sean caught up with Jeff Rau, Suncadia Sales Associate, whose seen market shifts in the second home market the last decade, to learn about their “Summer of Sales.”
Q&A with Jeff Rau:
Sean Nielsen (SN): You and I have synced about Suncadia before, but can you give me an update on where the development is right now? Looks like there a ton of new homes being built this summer!
Jeff Rau (JR): The best investment is the one you can make for your family building lifetime memories. Suncadia is a great place to do that—Suncadia continues to build amenities, the latest being the Nelson Farm Pool. We hope The Village will be breaking ground next year, the first building being a Market/General Store. Last year 105 new homes were built and we plan to have 90+ breaking ground this year.
SN: Is the summer the busiest selling season or do you think this Fall will be a good time to buy in as the holidays approach?
JR: Summer is definitely the busiest but we stay pretty active year round. The winter continues to be a destination for those that want to come play in the snow.
SN: Looks like homes on the golf courses start around $1.5M now but I saw your listing on Rope Rider hole #12 looks amazing at $1.05M.
JR: I think a great value. Nice spot on the course and great central location to Dawson Park, Swiftwater Cellars Winery and the Nelson Farm Pool.
SN: What about a family that’s just starting to think about a second home and can only afford $500k-$700k. Tell me about the townhomes your listing soon.
JR: The Cascade Reach Townhomes are a prime location within Suncadia, adjacent to the Swim & Fitness Center on the Recreational Lake. These 3 & 4 bedroom townhomes are a great opportunity to be in the core of Suncadia at a nice price point.
SN: Finally I love the lodge, what’s the number one concern buyers ask about when buying a condo in the lodge?
JR: The biggest objection is the dues. What most don’t understand is if you put the home in the rental program, depending on your use of the home, the revenue can off-set a large or all of your HOA dues. Now you have an affordable home and place to decompress at an affordable price. The HOA dues cover all utilities into the home and a large operating fund for future maintenance on the building…they don’t ever expect an assessment.
SN: As you know I just qualified for the Boston Marathon. You told me you’ve run that race 3x!! That’s amazing!! Being such a runner, are there good trails for guests to use here in Suncadia?
JR: Amazing trails, now about 25 miles paved and many more miles of old logging roads and trails in our 1200 acre conservancy. The master plan calls for close to 50 miles of paved trails when fully built out.
